History

NHH Crew is the men's rowing team at the Norwegian School of Economics and the oldest sports team. On May 17, 1997, an enthusiastic group of friends found the solution to their lack of a sporting identity; by September 20 of that same year, the decision was finalized, and the team was officially established. The team’s charter mandates an annual participation in the Henley Royal Regatta. On March 13, 1998, NHH Crew was admitted as a full member of the Norwegian Rowing Federation, and the world lay at our feet. That same year, nine oarsmen traveled to Henley-on-Thames to represent Norway. Today, NHH Crew is Norway’s oldest student rowing team and are formaly invited to the Henley Royal Regatta, which is the most prestigious regatta in the world.

Activities

New oarsmen are recruited every autumn. The team trains twice a week throughout the season. Each year, the whole team travels abroad, and trips in Norway. We also hold a range of traditional gatherings. Some are just for the team, others together with other teams at the school. These gatherings are central to our social life. They help forge strong bonds across year groups.

Oarsmen

Team consistently comprises around 25 young men from all year groups. NHH Crew maintains a strong presence in the school’s social scene, and many oarsmen are actively involved in other extracurricular activities within the student association. The Norwegian School of Economics’ oldest formal uniform consists of meticulously pressed grey trousers, a double-breasted blazer adorned with gold buttons, and a tie that reflects our identity. Our oarsmen wear this formal uniform at the school’s internal parties and other events, as well as on the banks of the Thames.
